lacrimablues - randy holden - population II - 1971
Ricordo che questo album e' stato per anni oggetto di culto per i collezionisti di vinile , raggiungendo
altissime quotazioni . Infatti l'album fu inciso per una piccola etichetta , stampato in pochissime copie
e praticamente senza nessuna distribuzione ,poi la perdita dei masters originali ,quindi le poche copie
in circolazione divennero rarita'.Randy Holden ( Pennsylvania 1945 ) gia chitarrista con i Blue Cheer,
( gruppo precursore hard rock ) ,con " population II " si spinse con soluzioni tecniche sbalorditive ai
limiti dei volumi sonori , con il solo aiuto del batterista Chris Lochead ( in anticipo anniluce Black Keys
e Jack White ) con un muro di amplificatori con 1600 watt incanalati nella sua stratocaster ,esploro'
un mondo di assoli portati all'estremo , Hendrix e Jeff Back , ma anche suoni cupi e sotterranei che poi
si sentiranno nei primi Black Sabbath , rock duro e psichedelia ,l'album fu registrato nel 1969 per la
Hobbit records , un sound cosi potente allora non si era mai sentito!
Dopo la perdita dei masters Holden subi' anche il furto di tutto il suo " armamento" tecnico che lo porto'
al fallimento con conseguente ritiro dalle scene musicali . Torno'negli anni 90' per una inconsistente
apparizione che lo convinse definitivamente a chiudere con la musica !
