In attivita' dal 1967 David Bromberg ( born 1945 Philadelphia ) , musicista di grande talento
che con disinvoltura passa dal violino alla chitarra , dal mandolino alla lap steel guitar , ha suonato con gente come Bob Dylan, Jerry Garcia , Willie Nelson , tanto per fare qualche nome e la sua discografia e' ricca di grandi ma poco conosciuti lavori , infatti David e' sempre stato ( per scelta)
musicista di culto tanto che agli anni '90 appartiene il suo ultimo lavoro di studio ( elettrico ) prima di questo
"use me " ( il nostro si e' aperto un laboratorio e fa il liutaio e ancora oggi ripara e costruisce chitarre e violini ) . Il suo ritorno dunque e' un vero evento ma il fatto e' che il dischetto e'
un altro candidato a migliore disco dell'anno , blues ,country , soul e rock e tradizione , non
sbaglia unacanzone , una qualita' audio fantastica e grandi ospiti che per l'occasione hanno
scritto apposta per lui ( J Hiatt , Levon Helm ,dr. John , Keb Mo , Los Lobos , Widespread Panic ,
Vince Gill , Linda Ronstadt , Tim O' Brien ) . Splendido !!!!!!

Chris Barber - Bourbon Street Parade

Inspirato dalla " king oliver creole band " C. Barber fu uno dei primi a portare il jazz di New Orleans in GB , il trombonista aveva 19 anni quando nel 1949 formo' la sua prima band .
Questo doppio cd e' una prospettiva di oltre 60 anni di carriera, il contributo e' veramente
eccezionale : Muddy Waters , Van Morrison , Eric Clapton , Mark Knopfler , Lonnie Donegan ,
Jeff Healey , Rory Gallagher , Ottilie Patterson , Keith Emerson , James Cotton , ho citato i piu' famosi ma la track list parla da sola . Difficile racchiudere 60 anni in 31 tracce ma nonostante
tutto la scelta e' molto efficace e non deludera' nessuno , si va dal jazz puro al dixieland , dal blues
al puro suono New Orleans , se vogliamo in questo lavoro c'e' la" crema " di Chris Barber con
le sue varie band e collaborazioni. Voglio segnalare quattro titoli che gia valgono il disco :
"can't be satisfied " con Rory Gallagher ( fantastica) ," i'll be rested " con Paul Jones,
"rose room " con Joe Darensbourg , " sunny side of the street " con Jools Holland .
