lacrimabeat - barry mc guire - anthology -
Uno dei migliori interpreti degli anni sessanta , il suo maggior successo "eve of distruction "
( Sloan ) e' stato mondiale ed oggi e' un classico , nonostante la breve carriera Mc Guire e'
rimasto nel cuore di molti appassionati . In questa antologia troviamo il meglio della sua
carriera ( mancano pero' " california dreamin , yesterday , hang on sloopy )
Comunque tra le diciotto tracce la migliore versione di " you were on my mind " ( ho in
mente te ) , direi sicuramente meglio dell'originale ( the we five ) , " baby blue " di Dylan
e' splendida , " this precious time " dove ai cori troviamo tutti i Mama's & Papa's , oltre a
naturalmente " eve of distruction". Sempre uno dei miei preferiti !
Recentemente e' uscito un cd "universal music etichetta " che contiene i suoi due lp
" this precious time " del 1965 e " the world's last private citizen " del 1968 .
Nel video la bellissima " believe in magic "( dei lovin Spoonful) assieme ai Mama's &
Papa's

lacrimablues - james cotton - deep in blues - 1996
Quattordici gemme di puro blues . James Cotton si fa accompagnare da due grandi
musicisti: Joe Louis Walker alla chitarra e dal bassista jazz Charlie Haden , ed in
quattro brani dall'ottimo pianista Dave Maxwell . Cotton canta con una voce rauca
e secca , la sua armonica e' gia leggenda , scrive anche in questo disco cinque ottimi
brani , firmando cosi' uno dei suoi migliori lavori in assoluto. Cover di Muddy Waters
( 2) , Sonny Boy WIlliamson , Percy Mayfield , poi i due strumentali : "ozark mountain
railroad " scritto ed eseguito al basso dal solo Haden , e " vineyard blues " eseguito
con la national steel guitar da Joe L. Walker , un country blues , due perle nel disco!

lacrimablues - john mellencamp - no better than this - 2010
Con questo nuovo lavoro J.Mellencamp va alle radici della sua musica, blues , gospel,
country , rockabilly , anche Bob Dylan ormai parte integrale della tradizione americana.
Il suono nella sua semplicita' e' molto ricercato , J.M. utilizza un ampex tap recorder di
cinquant'anni fa e microfoni vintage , geniale e perfetto grazie anche alla produzione di
T. Bone Burnette , uno dei piu' grandi. Registrato ai Sun studio di Memphis ( li' hanno
registrato i loro primi dischi Elvis Presley , Johnny Cash , Jerry Lee Lewis ) e , in altre
localita' storiche come la stanza 414 del Gunther hotel in San Antonio Tx , dove Robert
Johnson fece la sua prima registrazione nel 1936 . Le canzoni sono splendide ,
imperdibile !
