I Reverend Peytons damn band sono un trio proveniente dalla contea di Brown nello
stato dell'indiana , il trio e' composto da Rev. Peyton ( resonator slide guitar
e voce ) dalla moglie Breezy Peyton ( washboard ) e dal lontano cugino Aaron "cuz" Persinger alla batteria e sono una vera forza della natura , cosa ( la natura e
la tradizione) a cui tengono molto , come ci fanno capire nei loro ironici testi.
Si autodefiniscono " country rural life " e rural culture la loro musica, che si
rifa' alla tradizione folk con iniezioni di blues ,un cantato quasi " punk"
sostenuto dalla slide guitar e da ritmi foot-stompin travolgenti, il video e'
emblematico e sopratutto invita a scoprire questo fantastico trio .
The whole fam damnly e' il loro terzo lavoro , ( " big damn nation" il primo ,
seguito dall'ep " gospel album" ) mentre l'ultimo album e' " the wages" del 2010 .

Uno dei grandi album live di tutti i tempi , superbo concerto registrato nel
periodo d'oro dei Ten Years After ( il gruppo e' nato a Nottingham GB nel
1966 ). Registrato nel periodo d'oro dei TYA . In prima linea la scatenata e
fulminante chitarra di Alvin Lee , la batteria rocciosa di Ric Lee ( micidiale
assolo in "hobbit", oltre 10 minuti ), basso pulsante di Leo Lyon e ricamo alle
tastiere di Chick Churchill , una miscela di rock duro e blues, una scossa
esilerante . Mai il gruppo raggiungera' in futuro i livelli di questo periodo ,
il concerto registrato al mitico " fillmore east " tra i due eventi epocali di Woodstok e isola di Wight dove i TYA sono stati tra i protagonisti .

Albert King - Blues Power

Albert King e' nato da un umile famiglia a Indianola Mississippi , nei suoi primi
anni lavora anche nei campi di cotone per aiutare la famiglia , dal padre Will
Nelson comincia ad apprendere la chitarra per accompagnare il coro gospel della
chiesa locale , da li arrivera' ad essere uno dei piu' grandi chitarristi blues.
John Lee Hooker e' uno dei massimi rappresentanti del blues rurale del mississippi,
stile chitarristico duro e ossessivo ma molto sensibile , musicista fondamentale
e maestro di generazioni di musicisti, per la sua vita iniziata come per Albert
King nelle cosidette "cotton belt" del misssissippi rimando alle molte biografie.
In questo disco registrato "live " a Chicago nel 1977 un piccolo assaggio di
grande blues ideale per approfondire le discografie di due grandi!
